GRAHAM ELLIOTT

Square Dance Caller SA

The first National Convention I can recall attending was in 1980 at the 21st National, held in our home state of SA. This was some 5 years before we started our own club, so the experience was one of dancing in what was a very large crowd in the canteen space of a large automotive factory.

Following that, I attended various Nationals off and on. Work commitments tending to dictate when travel was possible.

Once establishing our own club in 1985, Dawn and I travelled to more conventions and in the last 20 years or so have attended every year. More time is committed not only with calling schedules but involvement in various meetings of National bodies.

In 2015, following encouragement from some of our dancers, we took the bold step of forming a keen committee and offering to run the 56th National in Adelaide – the “Cabaret” convention.

Not satisfied with that exertion. we have again volunteered to run the 63rd National in Adelaide with another great committee. Plans are well under way and all we need is YOU in 2022!
