David and Rosalind Todd
David and Ros met at Fred and Elizabeth Meads’ Sparkilate club in the early seventies. After a Ron Jones Caller’s school in 1973, David and Ros opened the D-Bar-T square dance club in Merrylands NSW. In 1978 they attended the 1st National Canadian Square Dance Convention in Alberta, Canada. They danced in a demonstration set and David called in the main hall which was definitely a career highlight for him.
After a long break David & Ros returned to square dancing in 1996 and living in Blaxland in the Blue Mountains, formed the ”Mountain Devils” club which is still operating.
David has served as President of the NSW Callers’ Association, Public Relations Officer of the ACF, President of the Competition Society and is currently President of the Square and Round Dance Association of NSW. He was the convenor of the 2000 NSW State Convention and Ros took on the role of secretary. They were also part of the committee for the NSW State Convention in Kiama.
In 2000 Ros took on the role of Coordinating Editor of the Australian Square Dance Review believing in the importance of the magazine nationally and internationally. In 2011 Ros was awarded Life Membership to the Square Dance Society of NSW. She is currently the Secretary of the Square and Round Dance Association of NSW, State Editor and Coordinating Editor to the Australian Square Dance Review and editor of the NSW magazine.
Square dancing has been a particularly rewarding activity for David and Ros as convenors they hope to promote square dancing to the broader community and gain lots of new dancers to this wonderful activity.
